Windows to Work Graduate Pushes through Obstacles to Success

Aspire Awardee succeeds after Windows to Work Program

Jacob poses with the 2020 Aspire AwardWhen Jacob graduated from the Windows to Work Program, his goal was to find full-time employment, an apartment and a vehicle.

He began searching for work at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, which presented a number of barriers including hiring freezes and company shutdowns. He applied to over 50 jobs before he was hired at Uniek as a Lift Operator. Jacob aspires to continue growing his skills to eventually enter a leadership role.

“I am so thankful for the Windows to Work Program. It’s been a true support network. I feel very positive about life and I am living well and I look forward to the future. Things are great and I can’t thank everyone, including my family, enough for everything that’s helped me along the way.”

Jacob worked tirelessly through the challenges. He’s now in his own apartment, is steadily employed, and obtained his license and a vehicle. Jacob also received the Aspire Award at the 2020 WDBSCW Annual Awards Celebration for his perseverance and accomplishments.
