WIOA Helps Participant Improve English Skills & Continue Education

Individual continues education to achieve welding goals.

Jose poses with an Aspire Award trophy.Jose didn’t have a high school diploma and was unemployed when he enrolled at Moraine Park Technical College to improve his English and literacy skills. He developed strong relationships with the college and WorkSmart Network Staff and built a network of people for support and encouragement.

Jose obtained his GED during the COVID-19 shutdown and was chosen to speak at his graduation ceremony. He decided to take his education a step further and enroll in the welding program at Moraine Park Technical College, which was also financially supported by WIOA Title I.

Jose is currently balancing work at Conagra Foods and picking up freelance construction jobs. He also received the 2021 WDBSCW Aspire Award because of his determination and achievements.
