Ian joined the WorkSmart Network to explore the educational opportunities available to him through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). He always excelled with numbers and was interested in learning more about accounting. So he enrolled in the Purchasing & Payables Academy.
Before he completed the training, Ian’s employer, Boardman & Clark, LLP, offered him the option of staying with the company while finishing his education. Previously, Ian had been in a strictly clerical role but he is now being encouraged to use his new skill set in a more accounting-based capacity.
Ian graduated from the Academy at the top of his class. He worked with WorkSmart to enter Madison College where he is currently pursuing his Associate’s Degree in Accounting. Because of the Academy, Ian was able to enter college with a few credits and his Bookkeeping Certificate, which will help him finish his degree and build his employability.
Congratulations, Ian!
