Dislocated Worker Transitions to New Employment

Worker transitions to new job in an in-demand industry.

Beth was laid off from Demco in June 2020 when she connected with the WIOA Title I Program after participating in a Rapid Response session provided to workers impacted by the dislocation.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Beth struggled to find employment on her own – and navigate virtual employment search processes. She enrolled in WIOA Title I programming to receive assistance searching for full-time quality control positions, specifically in the manufacturing sector. Beth’s Career Planner sent her job leads, helped her develop an employment plan, assisted with career assessments, provided resume development tips and prepared her for interviews with mock interviewing.

“Beth took her job search seriously,” said Jenny, her WIOA Title I Career planner. “She wasted no time and was open to receiving feedback. It was a pleasure assisting her.”

Within a month, Beth was offered a position with RenewAire as a Logistics Supervisor earning $22 per hour. She currently enjoys her coworkers and new responsibilities.

Beth shared: “WorkSmart (WIOA Title I) not only helped me identify employment opportunities, but by helping with my resume and giving me support when reaching out for those opportunities, the program gave me a great deal of confidence at a very stressful and uncertain time in my life.”
