Business Partner Uses Apprenticeships, More to Build Workforce

The firm produces quality construction materials and professional design, engineering and construction services. As of July 2022, Walbec Group’s family of companies had 183 apprentices employed and supported them on their career pathway.

In her role, Tracey has engaged in construction career pathway work for more than 20 years and serves as a leader and advocate to help underrepresented candidates access and thrive in the skilled trades.

Tracey is a member of the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Advisory Council and is an anchor business partner for the Construction Workforce Diversity Alliance Steering Committee and WRTP | BIG STEP in the South Central Wisconsin region. She also plays an active role in workforce development strategies to help connect job seekers to the industry.

Tracey was appointed by Governor Evers to the Prison Industries Board and was actively involved in helping justice-involved job seekers during a speed interviewing event. This event was a result of a collaboration between the WDBSCW, Madison College and Department of Corrections to help justice-involved individuals enter careers in the carpentry field.

Tracey received the 2022 Champions in Action Award for her support of innovative workforce development strategies.
