Foundations for the Trades Academy

Foundations-for-the-Trades-Academy_360x640Founded in 2011, the Foundations for the Trades Academy is an apprenticeship readiness program designed to help participants prepare for career pathways in the construction and utilities industry.

Built for career pathway success

During the Academy's seven-week training program, participants focus on learning important industry skills and concepts and put their new skills into practice during a hands-on experience on a work site. Upon program completion, participants can pursue an apprenticeship program or employment in the field.

Participants engage in training in blueprint reading, using hand and power tools, construction math and measuring, trades safety, apprenticeship exam preparation and employability skill development. Participants may earn OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR and National Flagging certifications as part of the short-term training. Instructors also provide coaching to help the participants market their skills on a resume, perform job searches and communicate their new skills to employers during interviews for jobs and apprenticeships.
