Actualizing BioHealth Career Pathways

Expanding Registered Apprenticeships 

​The Wisconsin BioHealth Tech Hub has been selected as one of 12 tech hubs in the nation to receive Phase 2 funding through the U.S. Department of Commerce's Regional Technology and Innovation Hub program. With a $49 million grant, this significant investment strengthens Wisconsin's biohealth sector, positioning the state as a leader in personalized healthcare and creating thousands of new job opportunities.

Actualizing Biohealth Career Pathways

As part of the Actualizing Biohealth Career Pathways team, led by Madison Area Technical College, the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin will leverage this funding to implement a variety of initiatives aimed at advancing career development within the biohealth sector. This initiative focuses on building a diverse talent pipeline through stackable credentials, apprenticeship programs, and new career pathways to ensure individuals are well-prepared for success in the biohealth industry.

Key initiatives include:

  • Youth Apprenticeship: Offering hands-on learning experiences for young people interested in biohealth careers.

  • Summer Youth Employment: Providing summer job placements to give youth valuable work experience in the biohealth field.

  • Occupational Skills Training: Delivering advanced manufacturing training to equip the workforce with the latest skills.

  • Wraparound Supports: Offering comprehensive support services to ensure job seekers and workers thrive in their career journeys.
