Sauk County Job Center Receives Jobs for Veterans Act Incentive Award

Baraboo, WI—The Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin is pleased to announce that the Sauk County Job Center has been awarded a $1,000 performance incentive award by the Office of Veteran Services under the Jobs for Veterans Act. The Center was nominated for the award by Wisconsin Job Service for its exceptional services to veterans.

Services available to veterans through the Wisconsin Job Centers include core services of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Title I programs. Services may include: assistance in job search and job placement, assessment of skills, labor market and career information and other similar services. Additional intensive and training workforce services may also be available to eligible and appropriate veterans.

“We want to recognize the staff at the Sauk County Job Center for their exemplary efforts in providing quality employment training and placement services to veterans and the public,” says Pat Schramm, CEO for the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin. “This is a solid example of how local One Stop Centers and staff bring critical workforce services to our communities in South Central Wisconsin.”

The selection committee, formed by the Department of Employment and Training and the Office of Veterans Services, considers 17 criteria points that foster or strengthen partnerships at the State level when selecting awardees for the annual awards. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs are fully considered for the awards.

Schramm affirmed that the award will be used to enhance services and technology within the Job Center, located in Room 232 of the West Square Building at 505 Broadway Street in Baraboo to further improve its provision of services to veterans in the region.
