News Release: Middle College Graduates Newest Class

Middle College manufacturing students in Beaver Dam

Madison, WI—Graduation ceremonies were held across the South Central Wisconsin region last week to honor the 40 high school seniors from 12 school districts graduating from the health care and manufacturing program tracks offered through the Middle College.

The graduation events were held at participating Madison College and Moraine Park Technical College campuses engaged in the Middle College program with collaboration from the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin and partners.

2014 Graduation Details

  • Health Care – Reedsburg: Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., Madison College – Reedsburg Campus
  • Manufacturing – Madison, Fort Atkinson and Portage (Enterprise Center): Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:30 a.m., Madison College – Truax Campus
  • Health Care – Madison: Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 1:30 p.m., Madison College – Truax Campus
  • Manufacturing – Beaver Dam: Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 12:00 p.m., Moraine Park Technical College – Beaver Dam Campus

The Middle College – Manufacturing – Madison, Fort Atkinson and Portage (Enterprise Center) graduation was held in conjunction with Madison College’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) manufacturing graduation ceremony on May 14. Madison College President, Jack E. Daniels, III, gave opening remarks at the Middle College/TAACCCT ceremony.

The graduates are now preparing for paid summer work experience opportunities with local businesses as part of the Middle College program. Middle College is encouraging enrollment for programs beginning in January 2015. More information on the Middle College is available at www.wdbscw.org/middle-college.

About Middle College

Founded in 2010, Middle College is a dual credit career pathway program targeted toward high school juniors who are interested in advancing their education in targeted industry sectors. Students study concepts in health care or manufacturing during the regular school year at participating Madison College or Moraine Park Technical College campuses. The program track allows for students to take college classes as they work to complete their high school graduation requirements. Students may earn up to 30 free college credits upon successful program completion and have the opportunity to participate in up to 2 paid work experiences with local companies as part of the program.

The Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin supports the Middle College with funding from the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.
